Land Conservation
On January 25th, Legacy President Tom Sanderson signed a letter of intent with EcoBank LLC regarding Legacy's interest in providing long-term stewardship for EcoBank's 135-acre wetland mitigation bank located just west of Junction City, OR. The Long Tom Mitigation Bank is currently being farmed to produce grass seed. Following EcoBank's restoration work, the site will support several important wetland and upland habitats including Willamette Valley wetgrass prairie, vernal pool wetland, forested wetland, Oregon white oak savanna, and Oregon white oak/Willamette Valley Ponderosa pine mixed forest. We are excited to be an integral part of this worthwhile project.
Site Management
Nothing new to report at this time.
Native Plant Nursery
In October 2007 Legacy stepped in to support planting the Long Tom Bank by selling EcoBank giant camas seed grown at our Jefferson nursery, and mixed sedge seed that was harvested off of our conservation easement in Adair Village. In addition, we are currently growing Oregon white oak seedlings for the Long Tom project.
Nature Craft Products
Over the holidays Legacy had our best year yet at the Gifts for a Better World bazaar in Corvallis. Once again our nature-themed pillowcases were a big hit, and thanks to the generosity of Linda Pace who provided us with one of her fine quilts, we made over $2,000. Thanks to all who help us make the products we sell, as well as to all those who support our work through their purchases.
